Vision and Mission

Vision

"Persons with disabilities living with dignity and independence in a barrier-free environment, fully integrated into their chosen community and enjoying the full realization of their human rights."

Mission

To promote, strengthen, and disseminate the values, principles, and practices of the independent living philosophy.

The Main Goals

  1. Promote and Strengthen the Independent Living Concept
Advocate for the recognition of Independent Living (IL) as a fundamental right for persons with disabilities (PWDs). Establish IL as a core framework guiding policies and practices at all levels of government. Ensure that public institutions actively support, plan, fund, and monitor IL initiatives in collaboration with disabled persons’ organizations and relevant stakeholders.
  2. Ensure Full State and Societal Responsibility for IL Promotion and Development
Mobilize both government bodies and civil society to take comprehensive, accountable roles in the development and promotion of Independent Living. Emphasize a rights-based, person-centered approach that empowers PWDs to live autonomously, with dignity, and fully participate in community life.
  3. Advance Legal and Policy Frameworks for the Rights of PWDs
Promote the adoption, harmonization, and enforcement of domestic laws, policies, and programs that uphold the rights of PWDs. Ensure alignment with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), particularly its principles on Independent Living, accessibility, and social inclusion.
