About ILC Lalitpur

Independent Living Center (ILC) Lalitpur is a non-profitable and non-political self-aid organization run entirely by persons with disabilities (PWDs). The establishment focuses on the protection and the rights for persons with a disability, as well as improving the availability of public access, providing the services of independent living, personal assistant (P.A.) and peer counseling. Registered in 2010 AD at the District Administration Office of Lalitpur Nepal under the Institution registration Act-1977, ILC  is affiliated with the Social Welfare Council Nepal and is associated with several national and international development partnerships, various organizations, and networks.

In Nepal, accessibility for PWDs and help service are minimal. Thus, ILC ensures that persons with disabilities have an equal chance on employment, in daily functions, self-decision-making processes, and aid through a Personal Assistance service. By organizing various programs and activities, people with disabilities can actively be involved in creating solutions for the future and making Nepal a disabled-friendly country. After all, the core of ILC believes that PWDs have the equal chance and opportunity to live a successful and content life.

The establishment has been  constantly focused on encouraging the participation of PWDs in the decision-making process, peer counseling or support, personal assistant services, the independent living program, use of assistive devices and technologies, housing and disabled friendly accommodation, accessibility, and social security in Nepal.
